The Ohio State football team had the weekend off, still Buckeye Nation got a chance to watch several of their favorite former Buckeyes on Sunday.
Brian Hartline caught 4 passes for 32 yards and 2 touchdowns, his firsts for the Cleveland Browns in their 34-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Hartline now has 12 catches for 150 yards on the season.
Kicker Mike Nugent made an extra point and 2 field goals of 44 yards, and another from 45 yards for 10 of the Bengals 16 points in their 16-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had a 42 yard field goal blocked by fellow Buckeye alum, defensive lineman Cam Heyward. In addition to his block field goal, Heyward had 2 tackles. His Steelers teammate, linebacker Ryan Shazier, collected 6 tackles and half a sack in defeat. Safety Will Allen (inactive) and offensive tackle Mike Adams did not play for Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Linebacker James Laurinaitis had 7 tackles for the St. Louis Rams in their 27-6 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Running back Carlos Hyde was inactive and didn’t play for San Francisco due to injury.
Defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins had 7 tackles for the New York Giants in their 49-52 heartbreaking buzzer beating loss to the New Orleans Saints. His former OSU teammate, linebacker John Simon, also had 7 tackles for the Houston Texans in their 20-6 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
6-time Pro Bowler and 3-time All-Pro center Nick Mangold did not play for the New York Jets in their 34-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders because of a neck injury.
Safety Kurt Coleman, wide Receivers Corey “Philly” Brown and Ted Ginn Junior will play Monday night for the Carolina Panthers against offensive lineman Jake Mewhort and the Indianapolis Colts.
